SIMA held its first Speaker Series event since the pandemic began at the Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center this morning in San Clemente.
It was also somewhat of a coming out party for SIMA’s new name – the Surf Industry Members Association, which is designed to open the group to more companies in the surf community. Previously, SIMA stood for the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association.
The topic covered during the event was “Tackling Sustainability: Science, Scaling, Solutions, and Challenges.”
Panelists included Marcus Eriksen, Co-Founder, The 5 Gyres Institute; Amanda Chinchelli, Founder, Designer & Creative Director of Seea; Chris Evans, Vice President International & Sustainability at StokeHouse; and Wes Carter, President, Atlantic Packaging and founder of A New Earth Project. The industry’s sustainability expert, Derek Sabori of the Underswell, moderated the discussion.
Below are some photos from the event.
