Skate participation among the core, or those who skate at least 26 times per year, was flat, while activity from less frequent participants increased 4.5%, according to Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) data. In surf, the core, those who surf at least eight times per year, fell 4.4%, while casual surfer participation rose 13%, SFIA data found.
