The Berrics and Poseiden Foundation will also celebrate 15th annual Ladies’ Day, including an adaptive world championship.
Published: September 30, 2023 Press Release

Together with The Berrics, the Poseiden Foundation will kick off the 15th Annual Ladies’ Day on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at The Berrics in Los Angeles. Ladies’ Day is a community-based event with a heavy humanitarian focus, providing a dedicated space for ladies from all walks of life to gather and share their love of skateboarding. Adaptive skaters have always been welcome at Ladies’ Day. Still, this year, the adaptive community will be  celebrated for five years included in this event as a competition, and the highlight will be an open ladies’ Adaptive Skate/ WCMX (Wheelchair Motocross) contest and an adaptive men’s best trick contest. This is the highest prize purse for the adaptive competition in the event’s history.

“What started 15 years ago as a passion and love for skateboarding, and making the sport accessible to women all over the globe, is the same reason I do this today,” said Micaela Ramirez, founder, and president of Poseiden Foundation. “The love has grown into 12 countries from 4 continents and will be represented this year at Ladies’ Day, our fifth year providing a space for adaptive athletes to compete with the largest prize purse at this event. Poseiden will also be giving back to the foster, orphaned, and unhoused youth within our skate community with the help of all our skate community that attends. I am beyond excited for this 15th annual Ladies’ Day, and I appreciate the support from The Berrics for donating your space and skatepark each year and providing the best facility for our ladies.”

Equally important as is the competition and the skateboarding, this event is also about giving back to the community through The Poseiden Foundation’s humanitarian efforts.  For the skater’s entry fee, a monetary donation is suggested of $20 or a canned food item, a new blanket, or skateboard equipment for the Foundation’s Humanitarian Outreach Fundraiser. For this year’s event, items donated will be given to Natives in need and foster youth within the skate community.

“Adaptive skaters are beautiful because they teach us that even the things out of reach are still reachable,” said skater and Olympian Bryce Wettstein. “Having courage can be hard to do alone. These female skaters give me the courage to overcome things that scare me. This ladies’ event allows you to be yourself, whatever that means for you, and teach the people around in the meantime.”

In addition to the Adaptive Skateboarding Championships, this year’s highlights include:

  • Judges will be Katherine Beanie (WCMX Skater, Godmother/ Legend), Oscar Loretto, Jr. ( Adaptive Pro Skater), Edie Robertson (Female 1970s Skateboarding Hall of Fame); Emcee Austin Sparks (Adaptive Legend)
