Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is thrilled to announce the kick off of their 2025 Summer Skate Series with the 21st Annual Skate the Lake presented by LivOn Labs, taking place July 19th + July 20th in North Lake Tahoe, CA. Skate the Lake is a 28 (or 8) mile skate-bike-roll starting at Sugar Pine State Park, making a lunch stop and drop-in point at Palisades Tahoe, and finishing off at Commons Beach in Tahoe City with a finish line celebration. This push for prevention will spread B4BC’s mission of a healthy, active lifestyle + early detection as the best means of breast cancer prevention while fundraising in support of B4BC’s breast cancer education, prevention and survivorship programs with a goal of $75,000. It’s sure to be a weekend filled with breast cancer awareness, advocacy and community!
July 19th Community Celebration
This special weekend of fun and fundraising will begin with a Community Celebration at Commons Beach in Tahoe City on Saturday, July 19th from 12 pm – 7 pm. Participants are encouraged to swing by, connect with fellow skaters, grab goodie bags and enjoy the festivities! This will also be an opportunity for interested skate-bike-rollers to register ahead of the event the following day. Festivities will include music from local talents, including the Eregulars, Tigershade, Crash Monkeys, and Chuck Robertson of Mad Caddies, some incredible silent auctions, exciting raffles, delicious BBQ by Rub Shack, cold drinks from PBR + CAPACITY NA beer and some relaxing yoga to get attendees warmed up ahead of the push for prevention.
July 20th Skate-Bike-Roll
Skate the Lake participants will be taking off bright and early with a 9 am start from Sugar Pine State Park, buzzing with excitement to skate for a cause. There will be three hydration stations throughout the course – the first at West Shore Market, the second at the 64 Acres Lakeside parking lot, and the third stop at The Auld Dubliner at Palisades Village – where participants can enjoy a catered lunch before the eight-mile home stretch. This will also serve as a drop-in point for those who would like to participate in a shorter push for prevention. After crossing the finish line at Commons Beach, riders will join B4BC for a post-skate celebration to honor their achievement and show support for B4BC’s education, prevention, and survivorship programs, featuring an award ceremony for top fundraisers.
To register for Skate the Lake, participants must raise a minimum of $50, which includes a goodie bag, event tee, and raffle tickets. Skaters will earn an extra 10 raffle tickets for every $100 raised, and participants who raise over $150 will receive B4BC Yeti Drinkware!
Those who can’t make it to Tahoe to join Skate the Lake in person are encouraged to participate virtually by registering, cruising their favorite local trail or path, and posting the skate to social media with the tags @b4bc and #skatethelake. A photo contest winner will be chosen on Monday, July 21st and registration t-shirts will be mailed directly to virtual registrants.
