Madhappy, a contemporary clothing brand rooted in optimism, announces the opening of its next flagship in Malibu, marking the brand’s fourth flagship location following its debut in West Hollywood, New York City, and Tokyo. Located just off the coast of the Pacific Coast Highway adjacent to Malibu Point, the 2,400 square-foot brick-and-mortar space will showcase the brand and build community through design, café, and conversation.
In partnership with London-based design studio Brinkworth, Madhappy Malibu builds upon the visual language first established at their previous spaces, with new perspective, channeling the tonality and light of the Malibu landscape in an expression of West Coast energy. The space draws inspiration from the post-war Case Study Houses which defined California’s architectural vernacular and mid-century design globally. Glass, steel and concrete; open-plan design for social interaction. A delicate play on form and colour, the space feels calm and curated yet spirited and inviting.
Reflecting the surrounding landscape of Cross Creek Ranch, elemental ruggedness is brought inside with a limestone surface framing the rails of apparel. Facing out of the full-length glass windows, the piece is in dialogue with the outside environment. An inventive plantscape by LA-based interior plant design studio, Plant Provisions, goes further in dissolving the indoor-outdoor divide. With a deep appreciation of nature, the space creates a feeling of liberation.
Pantry, the brand’s café concept that first launched in West Hollywood, will open within Madhappy Malibu, with a selection of local & global culinary partners that come together to form a collaborative menu offered daily. Partners include:
- HOTEL DRUGS: The Japanese-based café will serve classic espresso bar & tea offerings, and an array of seasonal menu items curated in collaboration with Pantry.
- Courage Bagels: Madhappy will continue its relationship with Los Angeles’ beloved Courage Bagels, offering select Courage favorites served with an assortment of sides from jersey cow butter to organic pastured cream cheese.
- Bianca: The celebrated Los Angeles bakery brings a selection of freshly baked pastries, highlighting ingredients and cooking inspired by Italy, France, and Argentina.
- Sobuneh: The modern Persian concept offers two breakfast burrito varieties at Pantry, including The Pantry BB: pasture raised eggs, tater tots, avocado and beef bacon and The Veg: pasture raised eggs, tater tots, and avocado.
- Beverly Hills Juice: The beloved neighborhood juicer since 1975 offers a rotating menu of fresh, cold-pressed juices.
- Cinnies: Ooey, gooey handmade cinnamon rolls will be introduced at Pantry through Cinnies, the local cult favorite, typically popping up at farmers markets across town.
- Softside: Softside — an offspring of New York’s beloved Upside Pizza serving premium soft serve — makes its West Coast debut at Pantry. Flavors will include Chocolate, Vanilla, and Swirl and are available with toppings including Oreos, Hot Fudge, Rainbow Sprinkles, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Select speciality sundaes will also be available at pantry, including The Riff: made with vanilla soft serve, olive oil, honey & sea salt, and The Bruce: made with vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, hazelnuts, brownies, & whipped cream.
To commemorate the opening, the brand has created a special, limited-edition Malibu capsule available exclusively in-store. Also available in-store will be the brand’s seasonal Classics collections, and special projects including its recent Hanes, PUMA, and Paraboot collaborations.
Madhappy Malibu will open on Saturday, March 21st, located at 23465 Civic Center Way STE #860, Malibu, CA, 90265, and operate hours between 11AM – 7PM Monday through Saturday, and 11AM – 6PM on Sunday.
