The Buckle’s March Comps Jump 7%, New Senior Vice President of Stores Named

The Buckle, a large wholesale customer for the surf industry, posted a 7% comparable store sales increase for the five-week period ended April 4, with total net sales rising 8.2% to $118.0 million.

The Kearney, Neb.-based specialty retailer operates 441 stores across 42 states.

Year-to-date through the nine-week period ended April 4, comparable store net sales climbed 7.4%, with total net sales up 8.5% to $202.5 million.

Scott A. Werth Named Buckle SVP of Stores

The company also named Scott A. Werth as senior vice president of stores, effective March 31. Werth, who joined Buckle in June 1989, most recently served as vice president of sales and strategy. In his new role, he will lead the company’s sales team of more than 7,000 employees across 42 states.

“Scott has a proven track record of developing leaders, providing decisive strategic leadership, and driving measurable results,” President and CEO Dennis H. Nelson said in a statement. “Buckle is fortunate to have a deep bench of talented leaders such as Scott within our sales organization and we are confident that Scott will continue enhancing our ability to deliver the most enjoyable shopping experience for our guests.”
