An 18-Piece Play Across Channels
The 18-piece capsule collection features men’s and women’s apparel, including graphic T-shirts, hats, UV sun-protection tops, fleeces, and Salty Crew’s signature Flagship boatshorts. Designed for utility on the water, the product line blends the technical functionality required by anglers with Salty Crew’s established ocean-outdoor aesthetic.
Salty Crew General Manager Jason Shelton told SESO that the partnership represents a highly targeted distribution play to bridge multiple outdoor retail channels.
“The capsule is being carried in specialty surf, tackle, and marine stores globally, including Australia and Europe,” he said. “We will have window displays and in-store signage, including an elevated fiberglass POP sign to mimic the foam construction of the unsinkable Boston Whaler.”
Shelton added that launching the capsule with the most iconic name in boating is a big deal to Salty Crew. “Teaming up with Whaler lets us engage our shared community of serious anglers who demand the best, in their boats and in their gear,” he said. “It’s been awesome to see the early response from our retail partners. Buyers across the surf, tackle, and marine channels have leaned in; they recognize the heritage on both sides.”
A Restoration-Led Campaign
The partnership also included a unique content and marketing activation led by Salty Crew founder Jared Lane, who undertook a complete restoration project to anchor the collaboration’s visual campaign.
“Boston Whaler has been at the top of my list from the moment we started Salty Crew,” Lane said. “Whaler is woven into the DNA of saltwater fishing; those boats are how a lot of us first fell in love with the ocean. To make this one official, we fully restored a 1983 Whaler Super Sport as part of the project.”
Shelton told SESO that the restoration project was executed from the ground up and “came out incredible.”
Brand Reach Meets Category Credibility
From a corporate standpoint, representatives for Boston Whaler emphasized that the alignment serves a distinct purpose for their long-term market presence.
“By pairing Boston Whaler’s iconic heritage with Salty Crew’s lifestyle credibility, we are reaching new audiences and retail environments in a way that supports portfolio growth and long-term brand equity,” said Nicole DaPra, licensing manager at Boston Whaler parent company Brunswick Corp. “We’re thrilled to bring this collection to the passionate communities that both brands serve.”
