Casio G-SHOCK is proud to announce its returning partnership with Zumiez Best Foot Forward AM Skate contest series, the world’s largest amateur skateboarding competition now in its 12th year. The heralded series kicked off in Philadelphia on May 5th, and will make 40 total stops across the globe, inviting local amateur skaters in each city to demonstrate their best skateboarding skills and tricks.
As the official timekeeper of the Best Foot Forward series, G-SHOCK will count down each participant’s three-minute runs, with previous Best Foot Forward winners and professional skateboarders evaluating and voting on the best skaters in each city.
Registered skaters will have the chance to compete for coveted prizes, including a G-SHOCK gift bag with branded beanie, skate tool, stickers and an iconic DW6900LU watch, along with a $500 Zumiez gift card and additional prizes from other partners.
The first place winner of each local contest will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Zumiez Best Foot Forward Finals, where they’ll have a chance to compete to win the ultimate grand prize: an all-expenses-paid trip to famous skate spots to film state-of-the-art skate videos, all-access to top private skate facilities, exclusive experiences with industry leading professionals and more.
The first place winner will also receive a gold IP full metal GMWB5000TFG-9 timepiece, retailing at $600 and the second place winner will receive a silver full metal GWMB500D-1 timepiece, retailing at $500. Each full metal watch boasts Tough Solar Power and Multiband 6 Atomic Timekeeping. The third place winner will receive the DW5035-D1B timepiece, retailing at $200, from G-SHOCK’s recently revealed Original Color collection in honor of the brand’s 35th anniversary.
Previous Zumiez Best Foot Forward participants have become some of the top names in skateboarding, including Ishod Wair, Tom Asta, Jack Olson, Miles Silvas, Jamie Foy, Tyson Bowerbank, Kyle Walker and Alec Majerus.
About G-SHOCK
CASIO’s shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch is synonymous with toughness, born from the developer Mr. Ibe’s dream of ‘creating a watch that never breaks’. Over 200 handmade samples were created and tested to destruction until finally in 1983 the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as ‘the toughest watch of all time’. Each watch encompasses the 7 elements; electric shock resistance, gravity resistance, low temperature resistance, vibration resistance, water resistance, shock resistance and toughness. The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up.” www.gshock.com
