2008 Waterman's Ball roundup

The surf industry turned out in force for the 19th annual Waterman's Ball and Auction Friday night at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa in Dana Point.


The ball, auction and golf tournament, held Thursday, were expected to raise approximately $500,000 for the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association Environmental Fund, which provides grants to 17 environmental groups that protect oceans around the world.

The ball, auction and golf tournament, held Thursday, were expected to raise approximately $500,000 for the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association Environmental Fund, which provides grants to 17 environmental groups that protect oceans around the world.

Watermans honorees

 

“This industry relies on a healthy ocean,” said Billabong North America President Paul Naudé as he introduced this year’s honorees at a VIP cocktail reception Friday afternoon before the ball. Honorees included Mark “Occy” Occhilupo, Jackson Browne, Eduardo Arena, Surfrider and Friends of the Foothills.
