- Peter “PT” Townend speaks Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, at a Connect S.I. event in San Diego. PT will talk about his 25-plus years in action sports, his role in the recent flick “Bustin’ Down the Door,” and his participation in Connect S.I. - SIMA and BRA are joining forces for a SIMA Industry Boot Camp March 19 in Huntington Beach. The educational, all-day event includes seminars, speakers, and roundtable discussions. Registration will be mailed to SIMA and BRA members soon. For event details, go to www.sima.com.
- The SoCal Action Sports Network is hosting Social Networking guru Chris Brogan March 26 at the Oakley HQ in Foothill Ranch in an event that could shine some light on what’s next for brands and retailers online. Registration is $25 before March 12, $40 after. SCASN founder Bryan Elliot says this about the event: “Brogan uses social media and other web technologies to build digital relationships for businesses, organizations and individuals. … Chris’s blog is in the Technorati Top 100 blogs in the world, and ranks in the top 20 of the Advertising Age Power150.”
- The GroupY young marketing professionals network hosts a panel on how to maximize PR exposure and build brand awareness at The Grove in Anaheim on Feb. 25. Panelists include Chris Overholser, senior PR manager at Vans, Shana Frahm, global PR director at Burton and Shelby Meade, the founder of Fresh & Clean Media.
