Press Release:
– Awards Ceremony Moves to Epicenter of Surf Industry in Orange County at House of Blues Anaheim on February 3, 2011 –
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (November 15, 2010) – The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) has changed the venue and date for the next SIMA Image Awards ceremony, which will honor the best of the surf industry for 2010. Due to the cancellation of the ASR trade show in San Diego where the ceremony was previously scheduled to take place, SIMA is seizing the opportunity to bring the SIMA Image Awards ceremony to the epicenter of the surf industry in Orange County, Calif. The SIMA Image Awards ceremony will now be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the House of Blues Anaheim.
“The original goal of bringing the Image Awards stateside was to afford more SIMA members the opportunity to be a part of this inspiring event,” said Doug Palladini, President of SIMA and Vice President of Marketing for Vans. “Now, moving the ceremony to Orange County, in the industry’s epicenter, brings us an even better chance to achieve that goal.”
More information about the ceremony and how to access tickets will be available in the coming months. SIMA member brands and industry retail partners are encouraged to save the date, rally their teams and bring their cheering sections to what will be an exciting evening honoring excellence and innovation in the surf industry.
The entry process is now closed and the nomination process for the SIMA Image Awards is currently underway. In October, Regular and Board Builder category SIMA members were invited to make award entries for their brands and/or products. A Nominating Panel comprised of manufacturers and retailers is in the process of reviewing all entries. Votes of the Nominating Panel will determine the five nominees in each category. Official nominees will be announced at the end of November, followed by final voting by all categories of SIMA member companies and the top 200 specialty retailers.
The goal of the SIMA Image Awards is to identify the surf industry’s most influential companies and recognize them for their efforts to advance and grow the industry over the past year. The SIMA Image Awards is the only awards program that gives SIMA members and surf specialty retailers the opportunity to recognize fellow surf industry companies for their outstanding contributions to the surf industry.
