Registration open for SIMA Event Planning and Marketing Boot Camp

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (March 10, 2011) – Registration is now open for Event Planning & Marketing Boot Camp, presented by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA).

 

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, Calif. Event Planning & Marketing Boot Camp will take an in-depth look at successful events inside and outside of the surf industry to identify best practices shared by leading event executives and producers.

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (March 10, 2011) – Registration is now open for Event Planning & Marketing Boot Camp, presented by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA).

 

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, Calif. Event Planning & Marketing Boot Camp will take an in-depth look at successful events inside and outside of the surf industry to identify best practices shared by leading event executives and producers.

 

SIMAThe first session of the morning, Lessons Learned in the Event Production Trenches, will showcase a presentation by James Leitz / Senior Vice President and Director of Action Sports, IMG. Representing one of the leading event production and athlete management firms in the country, James will share his tricks of the trade for producing and marketing events of all sizes.

 

For the second session, the Boot Camp will transition to a panel discussion titled How to Host a World Class Surf Contest.

 

Attendees will learn what it takes to host a successful surf contest from experienced surf industry experts, and will also gain insights on the current state of surf contests and what can be learned from skate contests from the director of one of the leading skateboard contests in the U.S. — the Maloof Money Cup. Panelists include: Graham Stapelberg / VP of Marketing, Billabong USA; Paul Gomez / SVP Global Events & Brand Entertainment, Hurley; and Tim McFerran / Maloof Money Cup.

 

Event Planning & Marketing Boot Camp will conclude with a conversation with Bill Fold, the Producer and Festival Director of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. In a session moderated by SIMA President Doug Palladini, attendees will learn more about what makes Coachella the gold standard in music festivals.

 

The half-day event will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon and, in addition to the three seminars, features a group breakfast and valuable networking time. All levels of employees from any department who would benefit from the panel discussions, seminars and industry networking time are highly encouraged to report for duty.

Pricing is $175 for SIMA members and $275 for non-SIMA members. Space is limited and on a first-come-first-served basis, with first priority given to SIMA members. In its fourth year, SIMA Boot Camps are educational and intimate seminars that aim to provide valuable business tips and tools to help SIMA member companies improve a variety of daily business operations.

 

The Boot Camp seminar topics change from Boot Camp to Boot Camp with the goal of reaching a variety of employees and departments within SIMA member companies. Upcoming Boot Camps for 2011 include: April 20 – Product Innovation Boot Camp; July 13 – New Advertising Boot Camp; September 28 – Retail Relations & Marketing Boot Camp; October (date TBD) – Industry Boot Camp co-presented by the Board Retailers Association (BRA). The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) is the official working trade association of more than 300 surf industry suppliers.
