Press Release:
BURLINGTON, VT (April 1, 2011) This week, Burton Snowboards celebrated the 2011 snow season by inviting more than 200 dealers, shop staff, reps and team riders to the Burton Slush event at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming. An iconic on-snow riding fest, Slush was initially created by Burton back in 1995 to bring dealers, shop staff and Burton staff together for shredding and good times all around.
“It’s been over ten years since we did a Slush event, and we wanted to bring it back this year as a way to celebrate and thank our dealers, reps and team riders for all they give to the sport,” said Jake Burton, Founder and CEO of Burton Snowboards. “There’s a whole new generation of reps and shop staff who have never experienced one of the original Slush events. So it’s cool to celebrate everyone’s hard work this season with incredible powder runs at an epic mountain like Jackson Hole.”
Despite the name of the event, there was no slush in sight at Jackson Hole, where guests woke up to powder days and unforgettable turns. North American sales reps, dealers and staff from specialty shops like Darkside, Wave Rave, Surfside, Shred Shop, Village Boards, BC Surf and Sport, Colorado Boarder and Salty Peaks took over Jackson’s legendary steeps by day and cowboy bars by night. Burton owners Jake and Donna Carpenter were also there to ride and hang out with everyone, as well as Burton team riders Danny Davis, Jack Mitrani, Hannah Teter and Jussi Oksanen.
In addition to riding incredible terrain and checking out Burton’s new Stash runs at Jackson Hole, Slush guests enjoyed plenty of nighttime entertainment. Slush kicked off on Tuesday evening with a few words from Jake, dinner and plenty of drinks at the Mangy Moose restaurant and saloon.
On Wednesday night, everyone enjoyed an exclusive art show at the RARE Gallery that demonstrated Burton’s rich heritage of combining innovative snowboard hardgoods with compelling, original artwork by artists like Mike Parillo, Bryan Iguchi and Scott Lenhardt, among others. And finally, the 2011 Slush event wrapped up on Thursday night at the Q Roadhouse with dinner, awards and a bull riding championship in true Jackson Hole style.
All in all, the 2011 Slush event was an inspiring way to remember what working in the snowboard industry is all about – riding, fun and community.
