SIMA EVENT PLANNING & MANAGEMENT BOOT CAMP

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (March 7, 2012) – Registration is now open for SIMA Event Planning and Management Boot Camp, presented by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA). The event will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, Calif.
Event Planning and Management Boot camp will take an in-depth look at some of the nation’s most successfully run and longest standing events. From big picture execution to front-line logistics, attendees will hear from event gurus of the NFL and Vans Warped Tour as they share their insider perspective on the successes and challenges of hosting events on a global scale.

“To hear Kevin Lyman of the Vans Warped Tour and Erin Casey of the NFL walk us through their visions for successful events at this level affords our members an incredibly valuable opportunity to learn.”
The first session of the morning will kick off with Kevin Lyman / President, Vans Warped Tour / 4Fini, Inc. In a candid conversation format, Lyman will discuss the evolution of event marketing, connecting with today’s youth consumers and the collaboration of action sports and music throughout the Vans Warped Tour (VWT).
Now entering its 18th year, the VWT has become America’s longest running festival concert tour and reaches more than 600,000 youth every summer. Kevin will provide attendees an inside look at how the VWT has grown and prospered while the music industry around it imploded and how its role in youth culture has changed over the years.
For the second session, Erin Casey / Event Manager, NationalFootball League, will take the stage. Hear from one of the event expertsbehind the NFL as she shares her best practices for producing some of the biggest events in professional sports, such as the Super Bowl.
With a record 111.3 million people watching the Super Bowl this year alone, you won’t want to miss Erin candidly break down what it takes to put on a mega-event on the world’s stage, and what the surf industry can learn from one of the world’slargest sports leagues.
The half-day event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.and, in addition to the two seminars, features a group breakfast and valuable networking time. All levels of employees from any department who would benefit from the panel discussions, seminars and industry networking time are highly encouraged to report for duty.

Pricing is $175 for SIMA members and $275 for non-SIMA members. For a limited time, SIMA members also have the option to purchase a 2012 SIMA Boot Camp Annual Pass that will secure their company one spot at all four half-day Boot Camps in 2012 for $500 – a $200 discount.
Annual Passes are transferable to any employee in your company, making it easy for you to purchase multiple passes now and decide later which employees will take advantage of the pass. Annual Passes will be sold in limited number until March 23.

In its fifth year, SIMA Boot Camps are educational and intimate seminars that aim to provide valuable business tips and tools to help SIMA member companies improve a variety of daily business operations. The Boot Camp seminar topics change from Boot Camp to Boot Camp with the goal of reaching a variety of employees anddepartments within SIMA member companies.
While all levels of employees are welcome, the 2012 SIMA Boot Camp curriculum has been specifically designed with the continued professional development of mid-level managers in mind. OtherBoot Camps offered in 2012 will include Visual Merchandising and Retail Marketing Boot Camp on April 25, Product Innovation Boot Camp on June 12 and New Media Boot Camp on September 25.
