ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (JANUARY 2, 2013) —The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) is proud to announce that tickets are now on sale for the SIMA Image Awards, which will honor the best of the surf industry from 2012. Tickets can be purchased by visiting https://www.regonline.com/SIMAImageAwards.
The highly anticipated awards ceremony will take place Thursday, February 7, 2013, at The Grove in Anaheim, Calif., and will be hosted by surf industry personality and icon Pat Parnell. The doors will open at 7:30 P.M. and all surf manufacturers, specialty retailers and surf fans are encouraged to gather their crew and come celebrate the best in the industry.
“The SIMA Image Awards is a night during which the progression of the surf industry is in plain view,” says Doug Palladini, SIMA President and VP of Marketing for Vans.
” More than 1,000 industry executives, surf shop retailers and surf fans will gather to honor innovative thinking and salute award winners. You won’t want to miss out on celebrating your favorite brands and being a part of one of the industry’s most entertaining annual events.”
Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Tables of 12 are on sale for $800 and include 12 tickets and a reserved table in the premier seating area. Tables of 6 are on sale for $400 and include six tickets and a reserved table in the premier seating area. Making the ceremony more affordable, the price of General Admission Tickets have decreased this year and are $25 per person.
Tickets are required for entry into the event and lost tickets will not be refunded. The deadline to secure reserved tables is February 1, 2013. There will be no refunds after February 1, 2013.

In its tenth year, the goal of the SIMA Image Awards is to identify the surf industry’s most influential companies and recognize them for their efforts to advance and grow the industry over the past year. This year, companies will be recognized in the following 16 categories.
OVERALL AWARDS
Breakout Brand of the Year
Criteria: Recognizing the small- to mid-size men’s or women’s brand that experienced break out growth between January 1 and September 1, 2012. Consider surfboard, apparel, footwear, wetsuit and accessory brands that had a breakthrough year through product development and/or increased brand recognition and appeal. Nominated companies can be new or established brands, but must have annual U.S. sales of at least $1 million and no more than $20 million. (Previous winners of this category are no longer eligible for five years.)

All regular and board builder SIMA members were given the opportunity to enter their own companies or brands, and retailers, in any qualifying categories.These entries were then reviewed and voted upon by an industry panel of experts comprised of both manufacturers and retailers. The outcome of the panel vote determined the five nominees in each category. Winners are determined by a final vote open to all SIMA member companies, as well as specialty retailers. The final voting process has closed and the winners will be announced at the SIMA Image Awards ceremony on February 7, 2013.
