Burton unveiled some changes to its sales structure last week, and is moving to an in-house model in some regions. Previously, the company used an independent rep structure for most of its years in business.
Below, Burton SVP of Sales Sasha Dietschi-Cooper explains the changes in a note to staff. We asked Burton if they would like to comment beyond the memo, and a company representative thought it could stand on its own.
The announcement that two independent reps are moving in-house comes after Burton confirmed earlier last month that it is parting ways with three other indepedent reps.
Sasha Dietschi-Cooper: “Today we have some very exciting news to share about Burton’s sales structure. Moving forward, all sales functions for the Western regions of the U.S. and Canada are evolving to a direct, in-house model. This new structure allows our sales force in these regions to focus on selling and developing new business with more support from HQ. It also directly supports the company’s main goals of ‘Protecting & Growing Our Core Business’ and ‘Developing New Business.’
“In Canada, we are very excited to announce that long-time Burton Principal Sales Representative Aaron Corrigan is joining the team as Burton’s Western Regional Sales Director for Canada, reporting to Pierre Ricard. Based out of Calgary, Aaron will be responsible for all Burton accounts west of Ontario.
“Additionally, he will manage the relationship with FGL’s corporate office and 160+ doors across Canada. After 13 years representing Burton in Canada, Aaron has the relationships and experience to help us achieve our sales goals in this critical territory.
“In the U.S., we’re happy to announce that Marc Berardi is taking on a new role as Burton’s Western Regional Sales Director for Specialty & Resorts, reporting to Mark Wakeling at Burton HQ.
“Marc will continue to be based in Seattle and will now run point on all Specialty & Resort business in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada and Arizona. Marc has been with the brand for 15 years and has worked his way up the rep ranks, so we’re confident he can take on this new challenge. To provide continued support of our key accounts business in the region, we are also adding a National Account Sales position that will be based on the West Coast and report to Beth Steele in Vermont.
“Please join me in congratulating both Aaron and Marc. They’ve been a part of the Burton family for a long time and we’re proud to have them officially on staff.”
