Key Takeaways:

  • Brixton is included in Kohl’s 2026 back-to-school lineup, according to a Kohl’s press release.
  • In a statement to SESO, Brixton describes the Kohl’s assortment as a distinct commercial channel, separate from the collection sold through its specialty and national accounts partners.
  • Other action sports brands already sold at Kohl’s include Quiksilver, Hurley, Roxy, Volcom, Vans and Converse.

Kohl’s named Brixton among the new arrivals in its 2026 back-to-school marketing push announced Wednesday, alongside brands including Nike, Levi’s and Skechers. Brixton is listed for young men in the retailer’s release. The release did not specify how many Kohl’s doors will carry Brixton.

Kohl’s, a mid-tier, value department store chain, operates more than 1,100 stores in 49 states along with Kohls.com.

Different Brixton Assortment for Kohl’s

In a statement to SESO, Brixton described the move as part of a three-tier distribution strategy. The brand’s specialty channel is its premium tier and home to its core inline collection, distributed through the independent and action sports retailers that have carried Brixton since it was founded in 2004. Its national accounts channel reaches a broader mainstream consumer while maintaining brand standards, and its commercial channel, which includes the Kohl’s partnership, features an assortment developed specifically for that customer, kept separate from what is available through Brixton’s core surf and specialty accounts.

“This has been a thoughtful, long-term strategy for Brixton,” said Dave Schultz, SVP of Sales at Brixton. “Specialty remains at the heart of our business, as do the consumers who shop there looking for a unique and authentic retail experience. Our Kohl’s assortment was intentionally built to complement, not compete, with what our core retail partners offer. We’re excited to introduce the brand to a new customer while continuing to invest in the retailers that helped build Brixton.”

Brixton said in the statement that when growth is approached with this kind of intention, brand integrity and channel expansion can coexist, calling it a standard the company holds itself to across everything it does.

The brand added in the statement that it remains an action sports brand at its core, shaped by music, subculture and the independent community that has carried it since 2004, an identity it says runs through every channel it operates in.

Other Industry Brands at Kohl’s

Brixton joins a number of other action sports and surf brands already sold at Kohl’s. Quiksilver, Hurley and Roxy are carried at the retailer, along with Volcom at some stores, according to the Kohl’s website. Vans and Converse are also part of Kohl’s footwear assortment.

Brand Background

Brixton was founded in 2004 and is now under Hybrid Apparel, which is also owned by Altamont Capital Partners. Colleen O’Neill, a Hybrid Executive Vice President, was named Brixton’s President earlier this year, replacing former CEO Seth Ellison, who retired.
