Outdoor Industry Vet Tim Bantle Joins Filson

Bantle, who previously worked for VF Corp., Black Diamond Equipment, and Patagonia, will spearhead Filson's expansion into new domestic and international markets.

Filson has appointed industry veteran and former Eddie Bauer CEO Tim Bantle as the brand’s president.

According to a news release, Bantle will lead the Seattle-based outdoor clothing and accessories brand’s next phase of growth and global expansion.

“Tim has an exceptional track record of developing strategic plans that drive long-term, sustainable growth while preserving the unique heritage of each brand he has led,” said Steve Katzman, CEO of Filson parent company Bedrock Manufacturing Company, in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome Tim to the Filson team and look forward to his leadership in guiding this iconic brand into new opportunities for growth and innovation.”

Bantle previously served as Eddie Bauer’s CEO for more than two years. Eddie Bauer owner SPARC Group recently merged with JCPenney to form a new entity called Catalyst Brands.

Before joining Eddie Bauer, he was VF Canada’s general manager, leading The North Face, Vans, Timberland, Smartwool, and other brands. He has also held senior roles at The North Face, where he was the global general manager for the brand’s lifestyle business unit. Bantle has also served as managing director at Black Diamond Equipment and helped launch Patagonia franchises such as the Nano Puffâ„¢, Down Sweater, and Black Hole.

At Filson, Bantle will be tasked with helping the brand grow to new domestic and international markets.

In addition to its e-commerce platform and wholesale business, Filson has 16 retail locations: 11 in the U.S., two in Canada, one in Japan, and two in Italy.
