Skip Potter, the executive vice president, chief digital information officer at Columbia Sportswear Company, departed the company on Jan. 6, according to documents filed with the SEC.

Potter joined Columbia in 2021.

While Columbia searches for a replacement, Jim Swanson, executive vice president and chief financial officer will oversee the company’s digital technology department.

Potter previously worked at Nike for four years as its chief technology officer, according to LinkedIn.

In its October financial results, Columbia Sportswear Company’s net sales decreased by 5% year-over-year to $931.8 million. Its net income was $120 million in the quarter, down from $158 million the prior year.

The Columbia brand, Sorel, and Prana reported weak wholesale orders and attributed lower sales to warmer weather and low consumer demand in North America. Mountain Hardwear was the only brand in Columbia’s portfolio that grew its year-over-year revenue.

“Our third quarter financial results are a continuation of the trends we’ve experienced all year in the North American outdoor market, which remains challenged,” said CEO Tim Boyle on the company’s Oct. 30 earnings call.
