Burton announces dates and locations for the six-stop 2018 Burton Qualifiers amateur snowboard contest series coming to a resort near you. Now in its fourth season, North America’s biggest amateur snowboard competition features the largest amateur prize purse with $20,000.00 up for grabs. All levels and ages of riders are invited to participate in this FREE event encouraging healthy competition, progression, camaraderie and fun!
Burton has once again partnered with six of North America’s most-dedicated snowboard resorts. These hand-picked resorts will be rolling out the white carpet, delivering ideal park conditions including hand-sculpted transitions, custom-built jibs and rails, as well as exciting one-off features unique to each resort. In addition to a great competitive venue, every stop of the Burton Qualifiers will include live event announcing, a handpicked panel of judges, complete online event coverage, and of course, cash prizes!
The Burton Qualifiers series is composed of five semi-final events with the opportunity to advance to the final event at Seven Springs, Pennsylvania. The FREE series is open to the first 100 riders to register for the five semi-final events, with $2,000 dollars up for grabs at each semi-final stop. Riders will have the option of competing in two divisions—Open and 15 & Under. Riders in each division will compete in an hour-long, jam-style format. Judging is based on style, trick execution and creative use of the course. The top-three riders in each division win cash prizes, with the top six riders earning an invitation to advance to the finals event to compete for a piece of the $10,000.00 cash purse.
Congratulations to our 2017 Burton Qualifiers Final winners—Trollhaugen’s own Benny Milam, who earned first place in the Open Division, and Boyne Mountain’s Jack Coyne, who owned the 15 & Under overall spot. The slate is wiped clean for the 2018 series—will you be the next overall Burton Qualifiers champion?
In addition to the opportunity to win cash prizes and bragging rights, complete competition coverage of each tour stop including video and blog posts will be featured online in partnership with Snowboarder Magazine!
