Published: November 4, 2015 Press Release

After an exclusive launch in Tokyo, Japan this past September, the first-ever Burton x NEIGHBORHOOD capsule collection is now available in select U.S. stores and on Burton.com. NEIGHBORHOOD, known for incorporating motorcycle culture into iconic fashion, and Burton, the foremost pioneer of snowboarding culture, have come together to fuse these two worlds into one highly-anticipated collection.

“I’ve been a huge fan of the NEIGHBORHOOD brand since the very first time I visited their Harajuku shop way back on one of my earliest visits to Japan,” said Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer at Burton Snowboards. “It’s crazy that they are now celebrating their 20th anniversary, and it’s a true privilege to finally work with them on a collaboration with Burton. I’ve always loved what they do, especially their take on vintage Americana and workwear. And further, their attention to detail and quality is next level, and is a great compliment to what we do at Burton. It’s been a true pleasure working with the entire NEIGHBORHOOD crew, and I’m so excited for people to check out the capsule collection now that it has arrived here in the U.S.”

The new Burton x NEIGHBORHOOD capsule collection features a deep line-up of technical apparel and accessories, including jackets, knits, flannels, denim, caps, tote bags and tees, topped off with the Throwback NBHD snowboard.

On the outerwear side, the B-10 cotton bomber stands out, taking cues from the classic bomber jackets from the 1940s while incorporating elaborate embroidery on the front and back. Another marquee piece in the line is the NB.MP Jacket, which mimics the look of a vintage leather biker jacket with a twist. The traditional Mexican pattern and vintage patches are actually screen printed onto the jacket using high-tech ink-jet printing that creates the visual effects, while the moisture wicking ‘Technobrane’ lining makes this an extremely high-tech piece.

On the hardgoods side, the Throwback NBHD board promises to be a sought-after collector’s item. Based on the 1981 Burton Backhill snowboard, this exclusive edition of the Throwback features graphics inspired by vintage military souvenir jackets and breathes new life into this piece of history as a feature in the Burton x NEIGHBORHOOD collaboration.

To check out the entire Burton x NEIGHBORHOOD collection head to Burton.com, a Burton flagship store or select U.S. shops. And for all things Burton x NEIGHBORHOOD on social media, follow the hashtag #BurtonxNEIGHBORHOOD

About NEIGHBORHOOD

In 1994, Shinsuke Takizawa was involved in motorcycles and the surrounding counter culture when he started the brand in Harajuku, Tokyo. The concept of “basic clothing created by digesting unique interpretations of elements from motorcycles, military, outdoor, trade, etc. and also suggesting this lifestyle” is the base for all products and projects which NEIGHBORHOOD is involved with, and always lives in the themes for the seasons.

Damage modification processed denim updated each season, leather jackets with the plentiful savor of motorcycles, and a wide variety of accessories such as eyewear, interior items, motorcycle goods, and more.  These are all iconic items of NEIGHBORHOOD. The lifestyle is also broadly supported with the kid’s line NEIGHBORHOOD ONE THIRD created under the concept of making NEIGHBORHOOD items 1/3 the size. LUKER BY NEIGHBORHOOD started in 2009 with a different approach from NEIGHBORHOOD with designs and a line up that give a feel of British influence. Further, items also include collaborations with many domestic and overseas brands along with movie couplings. The scope of activity is being broadened.

Currently, there are two flagship stores in Tokyo, NEIGHBORHOOD Harajuku and NEIGHBORHOOD Shibuya and six “HOODS” direct-shop (“Only Shop”) in Japan. Also HOODS has extended to Hong Kong and Beijing (HOODS Hong Kong and HOODS Beijing).

In addition, a first shop-in-shop NEIGHBORHOOD opened in Hankyu Men’s department store (Yurakucho, Tokyo) in August 2014, and another HOODS in Asia is expected to open in Seoul in September 2014, “HOODS Seoul”. NEIGHBORHOOD items are also available in multi-brand label fashion stores in Japan and International. And more upcoming projects worldwide are in progress too.
