Over the weekend, professional athletes, celebrities and more than 500 individuals came together for Ryan Sheckler’s Gala and 10th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament sponsored by Oakley. The two-day event was held at the Monarch Beach Resort & Golf Links in Dana Point, California and hosted celebrities such as Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Avenged Sevenfold and professional athletes such as three-time NBA All-Star, Klay Thompson and professional football players, Reggie Bush and Ryan Mathews who golfed and raised $300,000 to benefit the Sheckler Foundation’s “Be the Change” initiative.
The fun-filled weekend kicked-off Saturday evening with the Sheckler Foundation’s 3rd Annual Gala hosted at the AAA 5-Diamond Award Winning Monarch Beach Resort. Upon arrival, guests were treated to a red-carpet entrance and cocktail reception complete with a cigar lounge, hors d’oeuvres and live music. Following the reception, attendees gathered in the ballroom for a gourmet dinner, live auctions and a special performance by Tunnel Vision. This year, Ryan Sheckler and the Sheckler Foundation honored Steve Astephen, a Sheckler Foundation board member and Ryan’s agent for his dedicated and unwavering support.
On Sunday, festivities continued with the Sheckler Foundation’s vintage nautical themed 10th Annual Golf Tournament held at the Monarch Beach Golf Links. The day set sail with a putting contest sponsored by Red Bull where golfers put their putting skills to the test for a chance to win $10,000. Shot gun start at 11:00 a.m. sent golfers out to compete on Monarch’s award-winning, championship golf course. Golfers enjoyed an action-packed day complete with hole activations, contests, games and entertainment along with food served by Chronic Tacos, Zebra House Coffee and Wienerschnitzel.
Following the tournament, golfers enjoyed cocktail hour featuring raffles, awards ceremony and the Find Your Grind 200-ft. helicopter ball drop. This year, the Sheckler Foundation will donate 100% of the proceeds from the ball drop to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Reggie Bush and his foursome took home third place; second place went to Matt Sanders of Avenged Sevenfold’s foursome and Former MLB pitcher, Clay Hensley and his team took home first. Sponsor Lume Cube was awarded Best Hole Activation with a nautical-themed slingshot game and Sara Peterson from Zebra House Coffee won $3730 from the Find Your Grind 200ft helicopter ball drop and donated all of her winnings back to the foundation.
The Sheckler Foundation would like to give a big, warm thank you to all of those who helped and participated in the event. The Sheckler Foundation would like to recognize all of the dedicated volunteers, attendees, loyal supporters and sponsors who made the 10th Annual Golf Tournament a success.
