Surf Diva, the original all-girls surf camp and award winning surf shop hosted an aloha-filled 20th anniversary celebration at the brand new Duke’s in La Jolla, California this weekend with surf industry leaders along with the extended Tihanyi family, local celebrities, politicians, lifeguards and legendary surf instructors.

Coco Tihanyi and Izzy Tihanyi are the dynamic twins behind Surf Diva, quoted in Newsweek Magazine as the “Starbucks of surf schools”.

What started as a simple idea, empowering women through surfing in a positive and fun atmosphere, has grown into a global movement, with more women in the water than ever before.

Today, Surf Diva operates several surf programs for men and women of all abilities and backgrounds at La Jolla Shores, a gorgeous sandy beach in San Diego and in Nosara, Costa Rica.

With Izzy as the “Surf” and Coco the “Diva” behind the incredibly successful business, thousands of lives have been impacted by the life-changing opportunities from surfing, teaching and promoting surfing.

“The world needs more women like the Divas embracing a dream, turning it into a plan and making it happen. We need more women like this. I like to be surrounded by powerful women.” said Fernando Aguerre, President of the ISA.

With the motto, “The best surfer in the water is the one having the most fun,” students and instructors have returned year after year to the Surf Diva headquarters and its award winning boutique which was named by SIMA as the Women’s Retailer of the Year in 2013.

The twins aim to continue their passion and stoke. “The brand is still growing with a banner year posted in 2015! We keep evolving and partnering with other great brands for new and fresh opportunities for growth,” says Coco.

“Women’s surfing is in a new phase of performance that is igniting a huge fan base of young girls getting into both surf and SUP. We are going to see immense numbers of girl squads hitting the water this season and into 2017. The generation that grew up with Blue Crush is now coming into their own, and they have all the tools at their hands to make a massive impact in surf,” says Izzy.

“It’s a really great time for expanding our brand and collaborating with other brands to reach this group of girls and women who can’t wait to ride more waves!”
