CSEF Turns Go Skateboarding Day Into a National Fundraiser and Shops Are the Hub

The College Skateboarding Educational Foundation launches the PUSH 5K Skate-A-Thon, giving skateshops a ready-made GSD event with a purpose.
Published: June 5, 2026 Press Release

The College Skateboarding Educational Foundation (CSEF) today announced the PUSH 5K Skate-A-Thon, a national peer-to-peer fundraising event launching on Go Skateboarding Day, June 21, 2026. Skaters across the country will complete a 5K skate and raise money for CSEF college scholarships, and local skateshops are positioned to be the epicenter of the action.

The campaign, now live at give.collegeskateboarding.com/PUSH5K, invites skaters to create personal fundraising pages, rally their networks, and skate their 5K anywhere they choose on June 21. For shops looking to make Go Skateboarding Day meaningful beyond a sale, the PUSH 5K offers a turn-key answer: become an official CSEF Community Captain location, host the local crew meet-up, and serve as the start and finish point for the ride. This event was conceived by Justin Regan, CSEF board member and creator of Emerica’s Wild in the Streets, the globally recognized skateboarding community event that first drew hundreds of skaters into city streets on the inaugural Go Skateboarding Day in 2005.

“Go Skateboarding Day is already the biggest community moment of the year for shops. This gives it a purpose. Your shop becomes the hub. Your crew becomes the team. And every dollar raised goes directly to putting skateboarders through college.”

— Justin Regan, CSEF Board Member and Creator of Wild in the Streets

A Cause Built for the Industry

CSEF is the only national 501(c)(3) dedicated exclusively to student skateboarders. Since 2018, the Foundation has awarded over $290,000 in scholarships to high-potential students who are too often overlooked by traditional systems, many of them first-generation college students. CSEF is run entirely by volunteers, and every dollar raised goes directly to scholarships. Its scholars graduate at a 97% rate.

The PUSH 5K is the Foundation’s first peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, modeled on the Wild in the Streets events that drew thousands of skaters to city streets across the globe beginning on the inaugural Go Skateboarding Day in 2005. The connection is intentional: PUSH 5K is Wild in the Streets with stakes.

What Shops Get as a Community Captain

Skateshops that register as official Community Captain locations receive:

  • Official listing on the PUSH 5K campaign page, directing local fundraisers to their shop
  • A built-in GSD event with community, media hook, and cause alignment
  • Recognition on CSEF social channels before, during, and after the event
  • The opportunity to compete on the Top Team leaderboard

There is no cost to participate. Shops sign up through the campaign page, designate their location as the official meet-up point, and recruit their crew to join as individual fundraisers. Each fundraiser maintains their own page, and the shop’s collective total rolls up into the community team leaderboard.

“There Is Power in Our Community”

The skateboarding industry has long understood that Go Skateboarding Day is more than a marketing moment. The PUSH 5K gives shops a concrete way to demonstrate that, turning GSD into a day when the industry visibly invests in the next generation of skateboarders who will go on to change their communities meaningfully.

“The world needs leaders who see it differently. Skateboarders fall and get back up, find opportunities where others see obstacles, and build their own path forward. CSEF exists to make sure those people get the education to do something with it. Shops have always been where the community gathers. On June 21, we want every shop in the country to gather their community around something that matters.”

— Justin Regan, CSEF Board Member and Creator of Wild in the Streets
