World leading surf hardware company, Creatures of Leisure is excited to re-sign Australian surfer Ethan Ewing leading up to the 2020 WSL Season.
Known for his flawless style, Ewing has been destined for greatness since originally qualifying for the world tour in 2017. Falling off tour in 2018 Ewing has spent the last few years battling it out on the WQS for those few and coveted WSL requalification positions.
Through a consistent display of power, style and competitive prowess Ethan’s 2019 WQS season culminated with back-to-back final appearances – a 4th at the Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa and a 3rd at the Vans World Cup of Surfing at Sunset Beach. These strong results locked him into a requalification position for the WSL 2020 Season.
It’s no secret that the surfing world is thrilled to have Ethan back on tour where he belongs. The Creatures team is thrilled to support him on the largest stage in surfing.
“Being back on tour is really where I want to be and I’ve had to work hard to get back on. To have the support from the best in the surf industry like Creatures of Leisure just gives me so much confidence.”
Ethan has thoroughly enjoyed putting Creatures product to the test since he joined the team in 2016, particularly Creatures’ newest SUPERLITE leash – which was put to the test during Ethan’s final and most crucial events of the season.
“Hawaii is the proving grounds for surfers and their equipment….the SUPERLITE leash and all of my Creatures products never let me down in any situation.”
Over the years Ethan and the Creatures product team have to continue to refine and improve Ethan’s signature traction pad, which is designed to suit Ethan’s powerful and progressive surfing. With mega cut-outs for increased traction and reduced weight and a chamfered 7mm Tear Drop Arch and Square Loc II traction the pad perfectly suits Ewing’s radical performance surfing.
Creatures of Leisure’s Global Brand & Product Manager, Beau Campi is proud of what Ethan has accomplished over the years and looks forward to watching him throughout the WSL 2020 season: “I am a huge fan of Ethan’s brand of surfing. He is now a stronger, smarter and hungrier version of himself that I’m really excited see back on the WSL tour. It’s a testament to see someone like Ethan work so hard to achieve their goals, and take control of their destiny. Creatures are stoked to continue our partnership and enjoy the ride to come.”
The 2020 WSL Season kicks off on March 26th with the Corona Open Gold Coast. The event is typically held at the world renown Snapper Rocks, a wave that Ewing is very familiar with after growing up just up the coast on North Stradbroke Island. Keep your eyes peeled for a re-invigorated, inspired and ever-stylish Ethan Ewing to take flight throughout the 2020 WSL Season.
