Geartrade, the leading independent online resale platform for outdoor gear and apparel, has relocated their Salt Lake City warehouse and operational headquarters, adding 6,000 square feet of inventory capacity and improving the quality and efficiency of their growing operation.
Completing the move in late August, Geartrade’s expansion directly supports the ongoing sales growth of their core business, which is up +47% year-to-date in gross sales volume and on track to outpace the company’s 2025 overall growth rate of +46%.
Within Geartrade’s broad year-round selection of outdoor gear and apparel, the company’s ski and snowboard category is a primary factor in their overall growth. From September to November, Geartrade’s ski and snowboard category has broken internal records for four consecutive seasons, including a +80% surge in 2025.
Geartrade’s sales trajectory is outpacing the annual growth rate estimates for both the national resale market (+13%) as well as the speciality outdoor retail market (+5%).
“We’re on track for another big year,” said Geartrade president Aaron Provine. “To support our steadily rising number of active sellers catering to a community of nearly 200,000 outdoor shoppers, we simply needed more warehouse room to support our rising inventory levels”
Geartrade last expanded their facilities in December 2022, doubling the size of their Salt Lake City warehouse to support the growth of their consignment program which launched in fall 2021. Geartrade’s award-winning consignment service is an ‘Easy Button’ for sellers of used gear, providing both free shipping as well as an in-house concierge service that receives, evaluates, photographs and posts all products on behalf of the seller.
In addition to incoming product from individual consignment sellers, Geartrade inventory is also growing through a variety of resale partnerships with industry leading outdoor brands, including Jones Snowboards (Jones Re-Up), DPS skis (DPS Revive), Flylow (Flylow Leftover Land), Stio (Stio Second Turn) and Town Hall Outdoor Co. (Town Hall RePlay). For brand partners, Geartrade provides turnkey recovery and resale programs including consumer relationship management, warehousing, evaluation and refurbishment of incoming product, and fulfillment of all sold resale product.
“It’s going to be a busy fall,” added Provine. “With the combination of early winter forecasts and pent-up demand from last winter’s unsatisfying Western ski season, we are anticipating a ton of activity this fall from both buyers and sellers.”
