After years of R&D, a few months of quarantine was all that we needed to dial in the final touches of an innovative and sustainable surfboard construction. Introducing our NEW GreenRail Method. Built of local, sustainable cedar combined with 100% recycled PET.
The team at Grain has always felt a responsibility to help find a use for plastic waste, contributing to a more circular economy and keeping plastic out of our global environment. After years experimenting with recycled plastics inside and outside of our boards, we’ve now perfected a new construction method that achieves these goals and offers our boards at a lower price point. Our new GreenRail surfboards are hand-built in Maine and using our time-tested wood construction combined with a perimeter rail made of 100% recycled plastic bottles.
These new boards are built to the same quality standards as our all-wood original construction, lightweight, designed to surf, and built to last a lifetime. But now we’re able to offer these boards at a much more competitive price point and one that’s on par with some of the most respected foam shapers in the industry.
We couldn’t be more excited for the future of sustainable and smart surfboard production at Grain Surfboards. Read more about the GreenRail method HERE or give us a call for more information.
About Grain Surfboards
Grain Surfboards is committed to promoting the benefits of building and surfing wooden surfboards and believes that wooden surfboards can have more impact on the surfing experience and less impact on the environment. All of the wood products used in Grain surfboards and kits are sourced from local mills and forestlands in Maine that practice sustainable harvesting. All wood waste from the production of Grain’s boards and kits is actively reduced and creatively recycled. Grain ships surfboards and complete surfboard kits worldwide and hosts week-long classes in which anyone can learn to hand-craft their own wood surfboard.
