PAKA, the sustainable natural fiber apparel brand and innovator in alpaca clothing, is celebrating the opening of its first U.S. headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. This opening comes ten years after the brand first launched from founder Kris Cody’s University of Virginia dorm room, following a backpacking trip to Peru that inspired the brand’s beginnings.
Located just off Boulder’s iconic Pearl Street at 2010 8th Street, the 5,165-square-foot building will serve as the clubhouse for PAKA’s U.S. team and a touchpoint to connect directly with consumers.
PAKA plans to use the headquarters as more than an office space, creating new opportunities for consumers to engage directly with the brand:
- Product Development: Inviting consumers to participate in prototype testing and feedback sessions on new PAKA products
- First Repair Program: Cody plans to create PAKA’s first repair program out of the space, extending the life of PAKA’s clothing
- Community Events: Monthly film screenings and artist and ambassador events, including an activation around the 2027 Sundance Film Festival (local artists interested in participating can reach out to PAKA via office@pakaapparel.com)
- Local Brand Partnerships: Partnerships with other brands in the Boulder community
“Ten years ago, I was shipping PAKA’s first packages out of my dorm room at UVA. Getting the keys to our first real U.S. home exactly a decade later feels surreal,” said PAKA Founder and CEO, Kris Cody. “As we head into this next decade, we’re so excited to have a real home to create from and make magic with our community.”
The new headquarters reflects the brand’s evolution over the past decade. Since launching in 2016, PAKA has grown its team to more than 20 full-time employees across the U.S. and Peru, opened its first flagship retail store in Cusco, and expanded into U.S. retail. This growth has supported its founding mission to connect consumers to where their clothing comes from and support the people who make it.
PAKA remains committed to its presence in Peru, where several of the brand’s Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Happiness, and PAKA Foundation employees are based. The brand will also continue investing back into Peruvian communities by supporting Quechua weavers, rural alpaquero farmers, and the alpacas themselves – all to create more transparency throughout its supply chain.
As the brand enters its next decade, the Boulder HQ will provide a dedicated home for the brand to continue growing its team, community and impact in the U.S., Peru, and beyond.
