British outdoor brand Rab (owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.) launch the next generation of the Microlight, expanding one of their most trusted insulation styles into a versatile family of products for every mountain adventure.
Since its introduction in 2008, the Microlight has been designed to be used intensively, repaired when needed, and worn season after season. In 2020, Rab transitioned the collection to 100% recycled down, recycled outer fabric, and recycled nylon lining, without compromising warmth, durability, or comfort. Since Autumn/Winter 2024, the entire product family has also been fully PFAS-compliant, meeting regulatory requirements ahead of their introduction.
For Autumn/Winter 2026, Rab evolve the iconic range with a fresh look, refined technologies, and new styles that broaden its versatility while staying true to the qualities that made it a favorite.
Microlight Alpine Hoody: The icon, evolved
The redesigned Microlight Alpine Hoody remains at the heart of the range. Combining 700FP 100% recycled hydrophobic down with lightweight Pertex® Quantum featuring NetPlus® yarns made from 100% recycled fishing nets, it delivers versatile warmth in a highly packable package. Zoned micro and nano baffle construction maximizes loft and heat retention without unnecessary bulk. Options available include a non-hooded jacket and a vest.
Microlighter: Active warmth for moving light
The new Microlighter features breathable, 75% recycled TXdown® down-infused sheet insulation with lightweight Pertex® Quantum featuring NetPlus® yarns made from 100% recycled fishing nets, providing lightweight warmth for hiking, climbing, and fast-moving mountain pursuits. Highly packable and versatile, it is built for changing activity levels and conditions. Options available include a hooded and a non-hooded version.
Microlight Shield: The first waterproof Microlight
The Microlight Shield is the first waterproof iteration of the Microlight and combines a 2-layer Pertex® Shield waterproof outer with 100% recycled 700FP down insulation, delivering warmth and weather protection in a single garment for cold, wet winter conditions.
Microlight X: Maximum performance, minimum weight
Designed for climbers and alpinists, the limited-edition Microlight X pairs lightweight ripstop fabric with premium 800FP down, creating the most technically advanced Microlight yet for fast-moving and weight-conscious mountain objectives.
Responsible materials at scale
A key update is the introduction of Pertex® Quantum with NetPlus® across the Microlight Alpine Hoody, the Microlight Jacket, the Microlight Vest and the Microlighter styles. Rab incorporate more than 363,000 meters of fabric made with NetPlus® in their AW26 products, repurposing over 22 tonnes of discarded fishing nets while maintaining the performance expected from technical mountain equipment.
The launch sits at the heart of Rab’s AW26 campaign, It’s Good To Know What You’re Made Of, celebrating the performance of the products and the materials, people, and stories behind them.
