Hello from snowy Park City!
I hope everyone is enjoying this early season snow. It’s been a great infusion of winter excitement that has fueled retail sales across the country and stoke throughout our community.
As we approach the holidays, I want to personally thank all of our members for their continued support of SIA and the industry. Your dedication and passion for winter is what makes the winter community so special. All of us at SIA are thankful for your continued support and look forward to providing new programs and services in support of you and your business.
As we look towards 2019, we must continue to work together to strengthen our industry. This is our primary focus, both by identifying shared goals and initiatives amongst our members, but also by building bridges across the entire winter and outdoor industries. Working together, we can achieve greater success than we can alone.
For example, just last week, I met with NSAA and OIA in effort to identify initiatives that we can tackle together, which is the only way that we’ll solve some of the big issues facing our industry. The future looks positive when you can collaborate with other key stakeholders and we’ll have some exciting news to share with you soon.
Similarly, we need to collaborate to ensure the future success of trade shows by recognizing the value that the regional and buying group shows bring to our business, and by embracing the energy and diversity that comes with working with the outdoor industry at a national show.
The OR Snow Show last January was a great example of what we can achieve when we unite as winter and outdoor under one roof – it was exciting and exceeded all expectations from a business and community perspective. It was, by all accounts, the best one in recent memory and I can’t wait to see how it evolves when we all convene again in a few weeks. The January show is, and will continue to be, the show for winter business.
Over the holidays, think about what you want for the future of this industry. What do you see as the biggest priorities and what positive contributions can you make to the conversation? Bring these thoughts and ideas to the OR Snow Show and the On-Snow Demo at Copper Mtn. I want to hear them and we need to be talking about them as a community.
Happy Holidays!
