We are reporting live from the SIMA Awards tonight at a new outdoor venue, Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado Canyon.
So far Billabong Women’s is the big winner, winning three awards – Women’s Marketing, Swim Brand, and Women’s Apparel Brand of the Year.
Vissla won two awards, the coveted Boardshort of the Year and Men’s Apparel Brand.
Slater Designs and Firewire won three awards – Slater Designs for Breakout Brand of the Year and Performance Shortboard of the Year – and Firewire, which won for Longboard of the Year.
Otherwise the awards were distributed among many brands.
Two retailers were also being honored – Wave Riding Vehicles and Mitch’s Surf Shop – for being in business for 50 years. SIMA gave them a Gold Wave Award.
