ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (June 2, 2011) – Registration is now open for Product Innovation Boot Camp, presented by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA). The event will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, Calif.
Product Innovation Boot Camp will explore how to foster creative innovation within your company through lessons learned from the leading luxury automobile brand, BMW, and the award winning design and innovation consulting firm, IDEO. Attendees will learn how to build a creative business culture that will sustain and increase innovation to keep your brand on the forefront of emerging trends.
The first session of the morning, Brilliant and Ridiculous: The Role of Play In Innovation, willshowcase a presentation by Brendan Boyle / Partner, IDEO. Research has shown that play is one of the most powerful developmental processes linked to learning.
How do we get comfortable with pushing our ideas further? And how do we accept failure as a positive part of the learning process? This talk is for professionals wishing to learn and develop creatively throughout their lives.
Boyle will give the audience real tactics that every classroom, company, and designer can use to push ideas from the ordinary to the extraordinary. And they’ll show us, from their own experiences, how failure is as much a part of the process as success.
For the second session, the Boot Camp will transition to a case study presented by Peter Falt, Director of Strategic Partnering / Designworks USA, BMW.
Part of a constantly evolving industry, BMW is on the cutting-edge of automobile innovation. Falt, will lead the audience through case study scenarios including design agility and strategy using qualitative information and observation.
Product Innovation Boot Camp will conclude with a panel discussion titled, Reinventing Juniors Apparel for Action Sports Brands. Listen toexperts from both inside and outside the surf industry on how product innovation must continue to help drive the juniors market.
