For more than 35 years, Waterman’s Ball has celebrated the people who have shaped surfing while raising critical funds to protect the oceans, beaches and waves that define the sport. Since 1989, the event has generated more than $10 million for environmental organizations working to combat ocean pollution, preserve surf breaks and safeguard marine ecosystems around the world.
This Year’s Honorees
This year’s event will honor three recipients whose contributions have left an enduring mark on surfing and ocean conservation.
- Greg MacGillivray will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. A filmmaker and ocean advocate, MacGillivray has spent decades capturing the ocean through IMAX films, inspiring audiences to appreciate and protect marine environments.
- Matt Biolos will be recognized as Waterman of the Year. As the founder of Lost Surfboards, Biolos has influenced generations of surfers through innovative surfboard design and craftsmanship.
- Save The Waves Coalition will receive Environmentalist of the Year honors. The global nonprofit has become a leading voice in protecting surf ecosystems through science, policy and conservation work.
Featured Artist and Evening Program
This year’s featured artist is Heather Brown of Hawaii, known for vibrant color and contemporary island style. Her artwork celebrates the connection between people and the ocean and has become an iconic expression of modern surf culture.
Guests will enjoy award presentations, live and silent auctions, and dinner, with proceeds supporting the SIMA Environmental Fund, which provides grants to organizations dedicated to protecting oceans, beaches and waves.
