Winter 2018 HighlightsÂ
Holiday midseason retail sales in 2017 exceeded expectations. Sales from November 1 to December 11 were 5.4% higher than 2016 sales during that period, reflecting a doubling in growth rate.
Decreases in the corporate tax rate and taxes on middle-income consumers are expected to have a positive effect on the retail and consumer goods industries, according to analysts.
For the third quarter of 2017, same-store-sales growth of select apparel, accessories, and footwear companies turned positive for the first time in 10 quarters, primarily due to strong consumer sentiment and retailers leveraging experiential marketing.
