B Corp outerwear brand, 66°North, have announced the appointment of their first Chief Commercial Officer and further wholesale leadership hires, as the company ramps up its expansion with the ambition of becoming the first truly global Icelandic brand.
Jeppe Møller will take on the role of Chief Commercial Officer at the almost 100-year-old Icelandic brand, heading up all global markets revenue channels including merchandising and visual merchandising from January 2024. Having worked as a consultant for the last year, Jeppe will now take on a full-time role based out of Copenhagen, building out a new satellite head office in Denmark and working closely with the brand’s HQ in Reykjavik. Jeppe brings with him 20 plus years in the clothing and retail industry, including most recently ten years with GANNI driving the Danish brand’s expansion.
“I am honored and beyond excited to be allowed into the legacy of 66°North, and the mystery of Iceland. The technical wear category has been developing significantly into lifestyle over the past years, and I believe 66°North has the legacy and positioning to continue to build authority in the performance space while reaching a broader audience on the global scene.” Jeppe Møller, CCO, 66°North, commented.
Of the appointment, Helgi Oskarsson, CEO, 66°North, said, “I have known Jeppe since 66°North first collaborated with GANNI back in 2018. I’ve always been impressed with his strategic thinking and his deep understanding of our industry. Jeppe has been working with us to sharpen our strategic focus for the coming years, and I am excited to have him now on board full-time to execute that strategy. Jeppe’s leadership values and team-building skills align perfectly with our vision of continuing to strengthen the global 66-Team.”
In addition to the newly named CCO, the brand’s international wholesale team also marks two key appointments. Justin Warren has joined the team as Sales Director for North America, where he will oversee the establishment of the brand’s New York City office and the strategic launch of wholesale in the market, while supporting the further development of ecom and retail channels in the US. Justin has a combined 15 plus years experience with both designer and outerwear lifestyle brands, and was most recently Vice President North America at Parajumpers. Speaking about his appointment Justin commented “I’m grateful to be a part of a truly unique brand story. Through its Icelandic heritage, technical design, and commitment to circularity, 66°North has unlimited potential in the North American market. I look forward to contributing to the success of Iceland’s first global brand.”
Meanwhile, the hire of Mike Massoulier Eriksen bolsters the team based at the Copenhagen office, as their newly appointed Head of Sales EMEA, reporting into Daníel Jónsson, the brand’s Global Wholesale Director. Previously Head of Buying at Wood Wood, Mike will lead on developing the brand’s sales strategy, new business opportunities and onboarding new customers in his markets. Mike notes “What I find compelling about 66°North is the brand’s origin story and how it has maintained its DNA and primary purpose for nearly a century while evolving over time… not many brands can say that anymore. It is an honor to get the opportunity to push such a story to a global audience.”
66°North opened their European flagship store on Regent Street, London in November 2022, and now boasts 28 wholesale stockists globally, including world-renowned stores such as Selfridges, Harrods, END, Mr.Porter, KaDeWe, SSENSE, SneakersNStuff and Beaker. Kei Toyoshima was appointed Creative Director at the helm of the brand at the end of last year, and will present his first debut capsule collection ‘66NORDUR’ in Paris this coming January as a representative of the overall vision he aims to take forward in his new role, in his own words: “The collection represents a reinterpretation of our rich heritage in a contemporary light, laying the foundation for introducing unique creations from the distinctive standpoint of Iceland”
