Published: April 18, 2018 Press Release

VIONIC Beach is thrilled to announce that we’re working on an initiative to directly assist victims of the Thomas Fire in Santa Barbara on their road to recovery. On Wednesday, April 11th, we commenced an online auction set to run through the end of April, featuring 4 original art pieces by Encinitas based artist Marissa Quinn, to commemorate our upcoming #VIONICBeachxMQ collaboration. All proceeds from the auction will funnel through our partners, The Changing Tides Foundation, and go towards shared efforts to provide assistance on the ground in areas still devastated by the Thomas Fire and Mudslides.

The 2017 Thomas Fire tore through Santa Barbara County last December, burning approximately 440 sq miles–the largest wildfire in modern California history. The fires destroyed at least 1,063 structures, while damaging 280 others, forcing 104,607 residents to evacuate. Just a month after the fires broke out, the season’s first winter storm triggered widespread mudslides and massive debris flows, which destroyed dozens of homes and killed more than 20 residents of the community. The damage today is widespread and the community faces a long road to recovery.

With this in mind, VIONIC Beach set out to help by connecting a unique partner network comprised of: VIONIC BEACH Sandals, Marissa Quinn the Artist, The Changing Tides Foundation, and HELP CALIFORNIA to provide some much needed support for the Santa Barbara County community.

As fellow Californians, our Encinitas-based team at VIONIC Beach was inspired to help our neighbors to the North with their road to rebuilding and recovery by raising funds to deliver relief to the area. “We have customers in the region who were directly impacted by the fires, rains, and mudslides. Some couldn’t get to their stores for long periods of time, and suffered significant damage. Others had their local clients severely impacted by the devastation, says VIONIC Beach GM Dave Ortley. “Hearing these stories, and feeling that impact so close to home has inspired us to do what we can to help.” To assist in these efforts , VIONIC Beach has partnered with the Changing Tides Foundation and Help California to in insure that the funds raised will deliver focused and impactful aid where it’s most needed.
